Many people have been sending requests to know about the early life of God’s servant, Prophet T.B. Joshua. Here is a touching biographical account of the prophet, in his own words, as published in one of The SCOAN’s magazines, ‘Faith Cometh’…
In our spiritual walk with the Lord, we have good times and hard times. When the going is good, we say we are in good times. When the going is tough, we say we are experiencing hard times. Remember, life itself is a mission. While we are on the go, we need to stop between steps, to re-focus on the Word and the Will of God. While we are on the go, I mean, while we are on the mission, we need to sometimes stop at intervals to assess our progress and prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead. Certain challenges on our way usually make us stop awhile – I mean, for a moment. When you stop awhile, you are not down. What are these challenges? They could come in the form of sickness, failure, setback, imprisonment, poverty. For instance, if I receive a sack letter from my very lucrative job, there is a natural tendency for me to cry and lament, if I do not view the situation from the maturity that comes from faith. It takes faith to realise that the situation is a mere stopping interval – a short break between two events.
I do not need to go very far to cite or give an example of what I am saying because my experience in life is enough to illustrate this philosophy or principle of life. As we said earlier, many things could cause one to stop between steps. I could still remember vividly when I sat for and passed the entrance examination into the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
I was invited for the interview and I had to board the train from Lagos to Kaduna. Behold, on our journey the train developed some serious faults that kept us in the bush in Jebba for six horrible days with little or no provision. Remember, I was going for an interview that was billed to hold the following day. I was on the railway line in Jebba while the interview was going on in Kaduna and there was nothing I could do to help the situation as I lacked the means to arrange for an alternative way of transporting myself to the venue of the interview, so I missed the whole thing.
This was how the ambition to enlist into the military was aborted by what was obviously an act of fate. Who knows what would have happened if I had successfully attended that interview. I actually felt very bitter I had missed another chance of making it in life.
With a very heavy heart I went to the village to complain to my mother of how so many opportunities had slipped by. Little would I have reasoned that it was one of those stops between steps in my spiritual walk with God until my mother did her best to calm me down, saying: “My son, do not mind the seeming appearance of things as of today. If I am ever confident of any child, you are that child. Do not be afraid of what the future holds for you, because I know if anyone is destined to fail, you are not the one. So, be patient and you would see what God would do in your life. I am so sure of your future breakthrough, considering the strength of the predictions and prophecies about you even before you were born. I cannot forget so easily what I experienced when I was pregnant with you, and I know God cannot lie. My son, whatever you may be going through today, just take it as a temporary setback, meant to prepare you for the challenges ahead. Don’t forget your name is “Temitope” and, by the grace of God, the whole world shall have the cause to thank God for your sake.”
After this encounter with my mother, I began to look at whatever came my way with a more mature mind whose focus was on God alone. I mean, the maturity that comes from faith in the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ. My case was already settled in Heaven. Here I am today in your midst; I can boast of what God is doing for us. Hallelujah! You are all witnesses.
In my spiritual walk with God I have experienced both good and hard times. Who knows what would have happened if those temporary stops did not come at intervals. Consider how my education suffered epileptic fits; today I am in school, the next day I am out. Remember, when God is executing His plan in our lives, He also designs and arranges events which continue to unfold until His purpose is revealed. The ups and downs in my education were part of the events that revealed the purpose of God in my life. Remember, the man who is poor is not the man that has no money, but one without a dream. They are suffering that have no dream. They are poor that have no dream.
Before I knew it, I had gone around six different colleges in less than one year. I enrolled for the examinations of JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) four times and on each occasion it was either I forgot my acknowledgement card and other necessary documents or there was an accident on the way to the exam venues. People who saw what was happening to me simply attributed my predicament to either sin or non-seriousness on my part. But those with the maturity that comes from faith, like my mother, saw it as mere stopping intervals or natural stops in my spiritual walk with God.
In James 4:7, we are told to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil. If we examine carefully our attitudes toward certain situations, we would see how much we willingly submit ourselves to the devil each time we view things with the maturity that comes from the experience rather than of faith. The maturity that comes from experience is based on what is seen, what is heard and what circumstances look like. When your maturity is derived from circumstantial factors other than faith, your level of maturity would continue to fluctuate rather than being stable. This is why I am enabled to maintain a balance and stable approach to the challenges that come my way every day. I am not moved by what people say or do concerning my relationship with God. I submit myself to His direct will which is good and perfect with no evil in it. Sometimes, God uses foolish things to strengthen our desire for Him.
In Luke 22:32, Jesus said to Peter, “I pray that your faith would not fail”. This means, all men make mistakes but people of God get back up. Certainly we would fall, but with Jesus supporting our position, we would soon get back up.

I don’t need to know about Prophet TB Joshua’s Biography, I believe that he is the Man of God. He is God’s Messenger. He has accepted God’s assignment with humility. That’s all.
This history shows us that we should accept the plan of God in our lives with humility and patience, for everything big starts little indeed! Lord, let your will be done in my life.
I am currently going through some marital challenges and considering divorce as i have not been happy for a long time and it is impacting on a lot of areas in my life(the man i married is not the man i currently live with even in spiritual matters). I have asked god why He allowed it to happen after i tried my best to live a good life as His young person. What has been hurting is the fact that i come from a family where most of my cousins are not saved and they had kids out of wedlock (My mother’s generation were either not married or divorced)but i kept myself until marriage and now i will appear to be like them because i will be a single mother just like them because i made a mistake of not listening to God properly before marriage to affirm if this what was right for me.
When i read the account of the man of god i was encouraged to think that everything in our life happens for the glory of our God, failures included. Every situation is there to direct our destiny and more importantly we need to trust God because He is all knowing and that our lives are in His hands. That we should not make conclusions based on situations but rather we should trust Him because only He knows what He has predestined.
I am no longer going to ask God Why is this happening to me, but i am going to trust him because the matter is in His hands.

May God continue to increase you so that you may impact more lives and many other people can see that it is not circumstances that determines destiny but God Himself determines our destiny and He can use what people consider to worthless for His own God because then we will know that it was not our doing but that it is God.

Jesus answered and said, Verily, verily I say unto you, unless one is born again he can not enter the kingdom of God. That is, one has to be born of water and the Holy Spirit, meaning one can not have a short cut to salvation. Just as you can not have a short-cut to the solution of your marriage. You just need the word of God, read it and understand what it says concerning marriage. Let no one cheat you, get it from the bible, the source.
Apart from that, there is one mouth piece of God in this world (generation) as at now. This man is T.B Joshua, the Prophet, he has the word of God in him. What he says, is thus says the Lord.
If you can not understand the bible, seek advice from Prophet T.B Joshua, he is the right man. There are so many men of God and not everyone is a man of God.
My sister, don’t even think of quiting your marriage but rather be strong in the Lord, He will see you through just as he has promised in the holy scriptures.
What I have learnt in life, is that no matter the situation at hand, is only mearnt to stop you for a while, to prepare you for a new level in life. Your husband might be difficult today, but tomorrow by the grace of God, he will come kneeling before you. so, dont quit. Things might appear to be going contrally to our expections but we should’nt forget to re-examine our lives by the word of God. Does his word abide in us or do we abide in it. The man of God, Tb Joshua is a real life model in my life. It takes the grace of God, in whatever we do in life. Even what the devil is doing is all abundant grace, if anything, he would have destrolled the devil from the moment he transgressed. But our God is So knowing and loving. In short, God is in control.

I encouraged knowing that when I stumble there are those who know what it feels like to encounter mountain after mountain on this highway of faith walking.

I thank God for the life of his servant Prophet TB Josua who went through hard times in his early life. I learnt that things may not go well but one must hold his faith unto God and not depart from his ways. God’s time is the best time as his servant Prophet TB Josua always says.
First and foremost I would like to thank God for bring prophet T B Joshua in our generation, a man of faith ,humble, a father and an encouragement to many of us.
From the early life of prophet T B Joshua I have learned that whatever we will try to do as long as it is not in the will of God for our life, we will fail and face frustrations. We may be wondering why things are not what we expect them to be.
It is important that we consult highly anointed men of God such as Prophet T B Joshua for direction in line with the will of God for our life. I learn that i can become great no matter what am going through now and that i should not give up! And that maybe the things that are happening to me that i think is delaying my future is for my own good and the future of others too is involved. so i shouldn’t be eager getting to the top without Jehovah God. And more grace to TB’s mother for she gave him more hope and prayed for him. be blessed saints of SCOAN, i have named my baby boy, after Pastor TB Joshua. his name is Joshua Jordan, because i watched Emmanuel TV, while pregnant. I am not married, born again, but i sinned and got this boy, but i thought this baby in my tummy should serve God like Pastor, and the word in Joshua in the bible, Me and my house, will serve the Lord, has also contribute to this name.
my baby Joshua, is 7 months old, and he is already a blessing. he clap hands, and fold like he is praying and he is kind of a reserved baby, sometimes he will scream/shout, then we say he is giving the shout of victory.
Pastor’s life is an encouragement, for me and my house. currently, i have financial set backs and this words in Pastor’s biography is again an encouragement, that i should not look at experience in the past and look with faith to circumstances. God rebuke me last week to have faith, stop be like Thomas and this words of Pastor is also a confirmation that i should just trust God and have faith in his provision.

When I reflect what I have gone through, I say yes to this Biogrpahical because what it says depicts whatI have gone through and what most of the people go through in their life time. Now that this biographical Account has enlightened us its high time we changed our minds from focusing on our physical nature but on God. We need true faith of God to guide us always. I wish to thank Prophet T B Joshua’s mother for having that heart which feared and trusted God. Her belief in God made her to give a good advise to her son. Had it not been for her faith, she was also going to focus on physical nature and hence, worsening the situation. Her act has taught me something good I should do also as a parent. Even when the very brethren you faithful labour with, decide to excommunicate or talk evil of you, takes the “Divine Focus” on Jesus to realise that our destiny is beyond the ordinary, average and common person. This is one of the greatest lesson, learning from life itself and being confident of future breakthrough before you receive it. That is Faith. Your mom played a very good role in your character building Sir. Our sallutations and honour should all be generously and deservedly accorded to her. I thank God for his faithful servant Prophet TB Joshua, I’m so encouraged with the history of the man of God.So many times as child of God we put our natural desire before God’s desire,i thank God for the mother of the servant God for not been moved by the present situation but always reflecting on what God as promised in the life of his son.God will always do want is best for his children’s, i pray that may God continue to unfold the unfoldable to his son.I Speak increase in everything that concerns his life.
I have gone through the same thing as prophet TB Joshua did. I started last year when I was admitted to the university of science and technology ( NUST) in Namibia. Last year 2015 my education was going better even if I didn’t performed well in most of my subjects. This year from January I couldn’t really figure out what went wrong with my studying on concentrating ability. Just like Prophet TB Joshua said he do sometimes forget important documents when going for the interview, I Simlon I sometimes forget my student card or timetable that is composary when going to write an exam.
As a result I started thinking someone is against me, that someone might have wicthed me. I started feeling helpless and sometimes really stressed out. Not only that, but sometimes I find myself not knowing that we are writing a test on a certain day. Sometimes I found myself going home without knowing we are writing a test that day, only my friends tell me sometimes. I messed alot of assignments without knowing it. I was in pain sometimes. But anyways I was not afraid to quit, so I just quited.
Know Im wondering what the future really holds for me. But just that I read the Temitope article, I don’t have fear anymore, I’m in right way, I learned about life, more experience than ever before.
I know that God gave me a redirection to quit school and go do what really amazes me, full filling my dreams and do His work that he created me for, in his name. Even if me and prophet TB Joshua don’t have the same calling, some experience will still lead me to what I was specially purposefully created for.
