NO TREASURE AS PRECIOUS AS GOD'S WORD

John 15:7 says, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

The Word of God is a treasure in the heart of those who meditate on it. God’s Word must be valued, as it is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path and a source of direction to God’s children. The Word of God is a tool of the Holy Spirit, our weapon of defence against the enemy. As Christians, keeping God’s Word close to our hearts shows how important it is to us and proves our love for God. God’s Word is Spirit and life; it has the ability to purify us, to cleanse us. The more we meditate on it, the more it becomes a part of us and the more it takes up residence within us.

We are nothing without God’s Word. It is His Word that made its dwelling amongst us and paved a way for fellowship. We treasure this Word by living in obedience to it. This is what Jesus meant when He said, “If you love Me, keep My command.” The Word of God is a guide – it directs us. It is a defensive tool against the accusations and attacks of the enemy. God’s Word works for those who treasure it, who believe it. Therefore, let us pay attention to God’s Word. It is the way He communicates to us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word. We ask for the grace to treasure Your Word and keep it close to our hearts, in Jesus’ name! Amen!
