John 21:15 says, “When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’”
We have fasted, prayed and hoped but the thing that is yet to be applied is love – love first to God and then to our fellow man. Before you can act with Jesus Christ or be responsible to Him, you have to love Him. Jesus repeats the question so that it will be crystal clear in John 21:15-17: ‘Do you love Me?’ He wanted Peter and us to know that love is central. Love is the only genuine principle from which the service of God can spring. As Christians, all our doings without love are nothing. You cannot have a relationship with Him without love.
Jesus Christ overcame the world because nothing was too dear for Him to give for our redemption. What a sacrifice! What love! When you love, you overcome. There is hope for you; you need to make the greatest sacrifice – to start loving Jesus. Our lord Jesus Christ made the greatest sacrifice when He died on the Cross of Calvary so that we might live for righteousness. The hour of Christ’s death was the beginning of His glorification and our redemption. As Christians, let us serve God with all that we have.. Remember, we serve God when we serve our neighbours. Whatever God has blessed you with, there are people out there who need it. As we celebrate this season, let us rededicate it to the act of giving. Emmanuel!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to love You the more and help me to love my neighbours, in Your holy name. Amen.
