Nowadays, everyone is exposed to things that are inconsistent with God’s Word, which is why we must examine everything in the light of that Word. As Psalm 12:2 says, everyone lies to their neighbours. This is why we must avoid jumping to hasty conclusions when we do not have all the facts.
Regrettably, however, today we easily reach conclusions on matters over which we lack all the facts. Many people have developed hatred towards persons and places based merely on what they heard from others. Because they did not bother to find out the truth, this has led many away from their places of destiny. Remember God’s Word in John 8:32, which says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” To know the truth is to know Jesus Christ.
If you want to know the truth, you need Jesus Christ, and you cannot know Jesus Christ without knowing His Word. Christ and the Word are one. The more you meditate on the Word of God, the more familiar you become with Jesus’ voice. The more easily you hear Him, the more easily you will be guided by the truth. Many people do not understand themselves or know God’s opinion about them, which is why they are easily deceived, while others fight for the truth. Stop fighting the truth, for truth never loses battles. No matter how long a lie is sustained, the truth always prevails. Because they are not linked with God, many today have been deceived into going to places where Jesus is not welcome.
Surely, you must be linked up with God. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a personal relationship with the truth. Sadly, many do not have a personal relationship with the Truth; instead, they rely on others for it, focusing on what people say or what they read and hear from external sources. Yet, we are enjoined to rely on Christ for the truth. When you rely on Christ, the Bible says He will give you the Spirit of truth, who will guide you into all truth. One of the reasons satan does not want you to examine all things in the light of God’s Word is that he knows it will enable you to step out of darkness into the light and out of falsehood into the truth. He knows that the truth will set you free, so he wants us to remain in darkness.
The Bible urges us in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to test everything and hold on to what is good. In other words, make sure of all things and hold fast to that which is true. People of God, make sure of God’s opinion about a matter or a piece of information before concluding on it. When you do so, you won’t make decisions from the human point of view. We must rely only on Jesus Christ for the truth, for He alone is the truth.
People of God, are you lost? Follow Jesus; He is your Road Map. Do you want to know the truth? Follow Jesus. If you are looking for guidance, follow Jesus; He is your Guide. If you really want to find out the truth, take Jesus Christ at His every Word. If you want to know the truth, know Jesus Christ. To know the truth is to know Jesus Christ. Examining all things in the light of God’s Word, that is the only way to know the truth.
