TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Your heart is the realm of desires and feelings; guard it. Guard your heart in the storms of life. Guard your heart when everything looks unsteady around you. God wants us to be unmovable, steadfast and firmly believing in His promise for our lives during trials and temptations. If you are always conscious of the problems around you, you can never be conscious of the presence of God. The story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6:15–17 is a good example. Elisha’s servant was conscious of the enemies around him but was not conscious of the protection he was under until his eyes of faith were opened.

Guard your heart because satan’s target is to get your heart and his focus is to capture your heart and create confusion. A person of faith whose heart is guarded by the Word of God, who walks by faith and not by sight, will always confess God’s promises for them in the face of adversity. Guard your heart because it is the seat of your will, desires and emotions; it is the fountain of all you do. Christ is saying to us today that we will face trials and persecution. But He also urges us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Our role is to guard our hearts with all diligence, continue to read the Holy Scriptures with devotion, meditate on His Word and pray without ceasing.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my eyes of faith to see Your protecting hand over my life, in Jesus Christ’s name! Amen!
