Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
We live in a world where everyone is exposed to things that are not consistent with God’s Word. This is why we need to draw closer to God and get to know Him more. Prophet T.B. Joshua said, “If you are reasoned into Christianity, some wise fellow can reason you out.” Many today have been reasoned out of Christianity. They feel like God has not answered their prayers and many feel ashamed to stand out for God because of what people around them will say. They lack the conviction to stand out for Christ.
Conviction is the foundation of a true Christian life. Without it, we are easily swayed by circumstances, public opinion and the challenges of life. Many have fallen away from the faith because they lacked deep inner conviction. Prophet T.B. Joshua said, “Faith is a conviction.” This means that conviction is the unshakeable confidence and firm inner belief in God’s Word, even when circumstances seem uncertain, prayers go unanswered, trials and temptations arise, and people stand against your belief. When we have conviction, we stand firm like Daniel in Babylon, unshaken by threats. Like the three Hebrew boys, we boldly declare our stand even in the face of death. Conviction gives us the courage to say no to compromise, to endure hardship, and to live with eternity in view even when the world offers temporary pleasures. A Christian without conviction will easily bow to pressure, but one who is convinced of God’s truth will remain unmovable.
There’s only one way to build conviction, and that is by studying God’s Word. We must spend time daily and learn at Jesus’ feet until our mentality becomes like that of Christ. Conviction grows through intimacy with God’s Word. The Holy Spirit also plays a vital role in helping our conviction. He reminds us of the truth and strengthens us to stand firmly. Remember that conviction is not just words; it is action. The more you practise what you believe, the deeper your conviction becomes.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, increase my faith in You. Help me to hold fast to my conviction of faith. Amen!
