Keep your heart free from sin, worry, and bitterness, allowing God’s Word to guide your thoughts and actions. Give your heart to Jesus Christ, and let Him transform your life to produce good fruits for His glory and the edification of others.

As Prophet T. B. Joshua taught us, it is important for us to hear God’s Word not only with our ears but also with our heart. Hearing God’s Word with your heart requires openness and hunger for God’s message. Allowing the Word in the midst of your heart means allowing it continuously, not occasionally. As Proverbs 4:23 urges us, we must keep our heart with all diligence, for out of the heart spring the issues of life.
You may be concerned about many things already, but you need to be more diligent in keeping your heart. This is because it is from the well-kept heart that living issues flow, that is, good products for the glory of God and the edification of others. By all means, we must keep our hearts. We should consider keeping the heart from being defiled by sin and disturbed by trouble. The heart plays a significant role in our relationship with God—in our spiritual well-being. As Prophet T. B. Joshua taught us, managing the heart and its thoughts is important, necessary, and fundamental to our faith and holy living.
The greatest thing God looks at and requires is the heart. Let us look at why David asked for a recreated heart and a right spirit. David knew that he had a serious heart problem, so he asked God for help. His greatest concern was for God to change his corrupt nature. He saw how unclean his heart was and lamented it. He realised that it was not in his own power to amend it, so he begged God, who has the prerogative over man’s heart, to give him a clean heart. Only He who made the heart can make it anew, and nothing is impossible for Him. In the words of Prophet T. B. Joshua, unless the heart is transformed, a person’s life can never be thoroughly reformed.
Of a truth, Christianity lies in the heart; as such, we must lift up to God not only clean hands but also a pure heart. Our failure to give Christ His proper place in our heart is actually responsible for the crisis of our faith. The happiness of seeing God is promised to those—and only those—who are pure in heart. The heart must be purified by faith and be set aside entirely for God only. People of God, what the Almighty requires of us is a broken and contrite spirit, that is, a repentant and penitent spirit that is truly sorry for wrongdoing.
You must acknowledge your weakness—I mean, your position as a sinner in need of cleansing. You have to invite God into your heart by meditation. Meditation on God’s Word is a visit with Him. When you take God’s Word into your heart, it will, by its very nature, change you. Right now, ask God to give you a heart that does not bear grudges, a heart that is pure and humble. If you come to God in humility and sincerity of heart, He will welcome you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
