Proof Text: 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:26
There is something divine and transforming about fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 13:14 speaks of “the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.” This means the Holy Spirit is first a Person, then Divine. He is not merely a force or an influence but a Person you can walk with, talk with and relate with.
As Prophet TB Joshua taught us, knowing facts about Jesus does not change our relationship with Him. There is a difference between knowing about a person and knowing a person.
Jesus says in John 14:26 that the Holy Spirit will teach us, remind us and guide us. But how can He guide someone who does not fellowship with Him? How can He teach someone who never listens? Relationship with the Holy Spirit requires closeness, attention and yieldedness.
As Prophet TB Joshua observed: “The Holy Spirit is the most sensitive of all beings. We do not place Him where He rightly belongs, knowing how important He is to us and to God.”
Many Christians want power but not fellowship. They want breakthrough but not relationship. Whereas, as Prophet TB Joshua taught us, if we want to do great things for God, we must have a great relationship with him.
Just as you cannot know someone you never talk to, you cannot grow in relationship with the Holy Spirit without constant communion. Fellowship is how your spirit becomes sensitive, how your heart becomes teachable and how your life begins to reflect Christ.
The Holy Spirit begins to correct you, comfort you, strengthen you and shape you into the image of Jesus. He begins to guide your decisions, influence your thinking and empower your actions.
Prophet TB Joshua said, “When the Holy Spirit takes up residence within a person, He does so with the aim of aiding the person to develop a holy character.”
The Holy Spirit is not far away. He is present for your attention, surrender and fellowship.
Do not rush through your day without Him. Do not pray only when you need something. Build the relationship. Talk with Him. Invite Him. Listen to Him. Yield to Him. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit – and your relationship with Him will grow deeper, stronger and sweeter.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I open my heart to You. Teach me to fellowship with You daily. Help me to hear You, follow You and yield to You. Strengthen my relationship with You until my life becomes a reflection of Your presence. Stay with me, guide me and shape me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
