FOCUS ON YOUR DESTINATION

Philippians 3:13-14 says, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Life often places us in circumstances that feel overwhelming. We face challenges that test our resolve, disappointments that weigh heavily on our hearts, and moments when surrendering to what is visible seems easier than holding tightly to our beliefs. However, it is precisely in these moments that God calls us to lift our gaze above our situations.

A man of purpose is known by his unwavering focus on his destination, not his current situation. It is important not to allow your circumstances to mislead you. Circumstances are ever-changing—storms will arise and difficulties will come—but when you keep your eyes fixed on where God is leading you, nothing can cause you to veer off course. Apostle Paul speaks to this in Philippians 3:13-14. Despite enduring trials such as imprisonment, rejection, and persecution, Paul did not focus on his situation; his focus remained on his destination in Christ.

Hebrews 12:2 urges us to fix our eyes on Jesus. When you look to Jesus, you are reminded of your ultimate destination—eternal life. While situations are temporary, our destination in Christ is eternal. If you concentrate on your problems, you can become stuck. But if you direct your attention to your God-given destination, you will keep moving forward.

Therefore, do not be deceived by what you see in the present moment. Your current struggle is not the end of your story. The key is your focus. Hold fast to the promises of God, for your situation will change, but your destination in Christ is unchanging.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me not to be blinded by my present situation; teach my eyes to remain fixed on You, the Author and Finisher of my faith, in Jesus’ name!
