Matthew 21:21-22 says, “Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer’.”
Whatever you are going through as a Christian, remember that God’s promises are for your life. Do not focus on your current struggles; they serve a purpose. God’s promise is to heal, bless, and save us. However, God asks for our faith before granting us breakthroughs. Believing in Heaven’s promise and taking hold of it are two distinct things.
Our duty is to obey God’s Word and God’s duty is to fulfil His promise. God is faithful, so just believe. God’s promises are recorded in the Holy Bible. Jesus speaks to us through the Holy Word, revealing His perspective on our situations and giving us promises. Faith arises from these promises. It is not by our righteousness but by grace and faith in Jesus Christ’s finished works. We must believe in God’s promises. Many people, upon hearing God’s promises, quickly say, “Yes, I claim it.” However, empty words of faith do not help. Quoting Scriptures without acting on them is mere mental assent.
Faith is our movement towards God. Ask Abraham and he will tell you that faith appropriates God’s promises. To appropriate faith, simply believe God’s Word that He will do exactly what He has promised. Hold fast to your confidence in God’s Word, even when tested. Believing in a specific matter requires a work of faith in that matter. Prayer for any special object must be coupled with absolute trust in God, knowing that He is working out the answer. Leave it to God and worry no more. Romans 1:17 says, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Faith in God is not a risk but a sure, practical act. Faith is our movement towards God’s promise, for by faith, we take hold of God’s Word and act on it. God’s Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never leave you without a solution. Amen. Emmanuel!
