In James 2:15-16, the following observation is made, “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?” James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, then declares without mincing words in verse 17: “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

Throughout the earthly days of God’s servant Prophet TB Joshua, the above humanistic philosophy – founded on genuine love for others – undergirded the doctrine of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (The SCOAN). And today, under the leadership of Pastor Evelyn Joshua, The SCOAN continues in its mission of changing lives, changing nations and changing the world through preaching the message of salvation and offering charity to those who need it most.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023 – three days after The Crusade In Kenya With Pastor Evelyn Joshua – it was the turn of the Maasai people of Kajiado County from the Ewangan community to receive such charity as ordained by God. Together with The Emmanuel TV Team, Pastor Evelyn Joshua had stayed behind to minister to some of the needs of the Maasai residing in the southernmost part of Kenya – an area separated from Tanzania only by a severe range of hills.

Undeterred by the over 110km-long journey from Nairobi whose last leg is a forbidding stretch of untarred, uneven road that would challenge the endurance capacity of even a state-of-the-art SUV, Pastor Evelyn Joshua gladly did as instructed by the Holy Spirit.

For no less than three hours the night before, the team had laboriously packaged all the items that were purchased earlier in the day. Contained in each transparent rectangular container were items such as tea, rice, flour, maize meal, cooking oil, seasoning, milk, sugar, salt and other several cooking ingredients. There were also blankets for the aged as well as footballs, beverages and other items for the kids, just as there was detergent and water for all – in a region facing severe desertification. “We haven’t seen rain here for months,” disclosed one of the youthful adult residents of the border community. Seeing the dire needs, Pastor Evelyn Joshua also blessed the children and adults of the Ewangan community with cash gifts.

Before the items were handed over to the community, there was a short ceremony at which Pastor Evelyn Joshua spoke alongside county officials, who expressed their immense gratitude for the gifts and prayed for the progress of the ministry of Prophet TB Joshua.

Moved with compassion on the plight of the children, Pastor Evelyn Joshua prophesied greatness upon them and encouraged them to focus on building themselves for the future. She also spent some moments ‘playing ball’ with them.

As Pastor Evelyn Joshua and The Emmanuel TV Team departed, it was obvious from the looks on the faces of passers-by and bystanders that not very often do the people see long convoys in their community – much less convoys that come with items of nourishment for their bodies!

Indeed, giving to those desperately in need is one sure way of showing our faith and love – and solidifying our relationship with God. Emmanuel!
