Love is the greatest measure of a believer’s life. Faith connects us to God, and hope sustains us through life, but love gives meaning and value to everything we do.

The measure of true love is not found in how much we know, how gifted we are, or how active we appear in spiritual things. Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that while faith, hope, and love remain, love stands above them all. Love gives weight and meaning to every part of a believer’s life. Without it, knowledge becomes hollow, abilities lose their purpose, and spiritual activity counts for nothing.

The Measure of True Love

Proof Text: 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Love is the greatest measure of a believer’s life. If a person has knowledge, ability, and spiritual activity but lacks love, that person is nothing. You cannot love God without loving your neighbour. Loving God is not complete until it is expressed toward fellow human beings whom we see daily.

Many people desire change but do not know how to change. Some are trapped in bondage they hate and later regret their actions with tears. Jesus is the roadmap to the lost, water to the thirsty, bread to the hungry, and a companion to the lonely. Without genuine love for others, it is impossible to truly love Him.

Love must not be selective or discriminatory. Loving some people while rejecting others because of their weaknesses, faith, or lifestyle makes love empty. Your neighbour includes those who do not share your faith and even those you call enemies. Anyone who does not love the person they can see cannot love God, whom they cannot see.

True love breaks barriers and removes prejudice, suspicion, and misunderstanding. Loving your neighbour means overlooking mistakes, errors, and shortcomings. Lack of love creates distance from God and blocks hearing His voice. When you value your neighbour, you show that you truly value God.

Loving God is proven by action toward others. What you do to your neighbour is what you do to God. Forgiveness, care, giving, and support sustain healing, deliverance, and blessing. Love is the strength of faith and the evidence of a genuine relationship with God.

Prayer: Lord, come into my heart and give me a new heart. Help me to love my neighbour sincerely and without discrimination. Remove hatred, bitterness, and unforgiveness from me. Let Your will be done in my life through love. In Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
