With the recent historic visit of President Obama to Ghana, the relationship between Ghana’s President John Atta Mills and Pastor TB Joshua has been highlighted and discussed. Mills came to The Synagogue for a thanksgiving service just four days after his inauguration, testifying about the incredible prophecy TB Joshua gave him and its remarkable accuracy.
Heavy rain was falling on the day of President Obama’s historic visit to Ghana but ceased a few hours prior to his arrival, apparently due to divine intervention.

Since its inception, testimonies of God’s grace, goodness and glory have been pouring in from people of every colour, culture and creed under the influence of its programmes – indisputable evidence that distance is not a barrier for the Holy Spirit.
Whatever stance one has taken on the credibility of TB Joshua, the famous (or infamous?) pastor of The Synagogue Church of All Nation’s in Lagos, Nige ria – one fact remains indisputable, his is an incredible journey surrounded in mystery and being written in history. Joshua is easily the most vilified pastor in Africa, yet by far the most sought after. He is the hope of multitudes and yet the headache of religious bodies, who have vehemently disowned him but can’t seem to ignore him. It is a living drama being watched world over, as time’s steady course continues its revealing discourse on truth and authenticity. But what is it about TB Joshua that has actually engendered such outright denunciation and renunciation by his fellow labourers in the vineyard?
Our attention has been drawn to a recording in which one Mr Agomoh, formerly of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) made some unfortunate comments about our revered General Overseer, Prophet TB Joshua.

In their bad days, they laid siege on highways and streets in Aba, Abia State and dispossessed their victims of cars, cash, handsets and other valuables. The seven-man gang terrorized highways and areas in the eastern part of the country.
It is hardly an exaggeration to say that Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, who clocked 46 on Friday June 12, 2009, more than any of his contemporaries, has exerted a tremendous influence on the spiritual and economic life of his teeming congregation in particular and humanity at large. This piece is not an attempt to embark on a deconstruction of T.B. Joshua. In fact, I have never met this man of God, neither have I exchanged correspondence with him since the past fifteen years of my involvement in this busy profession of minding other people’s business, especially its most intricate and intellectually engaging aspect, the business of informed commentary and editorial writing. Admittedly, to offer an honest critical evaluation of the whole corpus of criticisms of this controversial pastor is certainly an ambitious undertaking. But it would be more rational to repudiate the cynical over-simplification by fifth columnists and court jesters whose major pre-occupation it is to ridicule someone who has practically and positively ministered to the vast majority of the downtrodden.

“When I am in the market and I want to buy something from somebody, before I get there, the person may initially be looking normal, but the moment I say: ‘How much is this commodity?’ suddenly the person would just change to a known dead person. Then I would leave. I would not buy what I wanted to buy again. Another experience is that, if I want to eat, I will see dead people. They would want to put their hands on the plate, then I would be afraid and would not eat again, and at the same time, I was getting skinny, because the moment they appear, I have to drop the food… They look like normal human beings, but in my heart, I know that they are dead. …They are familiar dead people… They will show me the time. They will tell me your time is up.”
Can we call it the superstitious tendencies that permeate our African history and ‘local’ reasoning, or an easy way of shifting the burden of blame to the shoulder of another? Maybe it’s a combination of both – but this national blame game has been the bane of our nation for far too long.

Aside from this, he regularly prophesies about major national, and international events with a consistency of accuracy that can only be attributed to divine inspiration.
It could thus be inferred that those who indulge in running down Prophet TB Joshua do not seem to have seriously pondered nature and the several basic principles that govern it. Their reason for criticising that which they apparently do not understand, appears to be either simple ignorance or sheer malice.
