Prayer according to God’s will is the master key that gives us confidence before Him. Scripture shows us that Jesus began His ministry in prayer and ended it in prayer, revealing that prayer is central to God’s purpose.

When we pray as God desires, we gain insight into His view of ourselves and others, and we are drawn into His plans. According to 1 John 5:14–15, such prayer brings assurance—God hears us, and His will is accomplished through us.

Prayer According to God's Will

Proof Text: 1 John 5:14–15

Prayer is the master key. As the Bible tells us, Jesus began with prayer and ended with prayer. To pray as God wants us to pray is the greatest achievement. Through prayer, you know God’s opinion about yourself and about others, and you become involved in God’s project and plan.

Prayer is not merely words spoken with the lips. True prayer flows from the spirit. That is why it is possible to pray without ceasing — not by talking endlessly but by living in the spirit of prayer. Prayer is a relationship between God and His children. God is Spirit and those who relate with Him must do so in spirit.

The heart is the real person. The heart is the inner man — the seat of desire, will, conscience, wisdom and moral character. Life reflects what is in the heart. A believing heart produces right behaviour and good works as proof of faith. Good works do not produce faith; they are the result of faith.

God listens to prayer according to the state of the heart. That is why the heart must be pure. A pure heart acts upon the Word of God. This happens through meditation — turning the Word over and over in the heart until it influences conduct and behaviour.

The Spirit of God in our hearts enables us to cry naturally, “Abba, Father!” This prayer is effortless and genuine. Prayer offered without the Spirit is empty and vain. True prayer happens when the Spirit prays through us.

To take care of the heart is to constantly pray in the heart, making melodies to the Lord. The name of Jesus and the Blood of Jesus running continually in the heart is enough to flush out conflict between flesh and spirit. Through this, there is self-healing, self-deliverance and growth.

The greatest achievement on earth is to know God’s opinion about yourself and others, to walk in the Spirit and to live a life of prayer from a pure heart.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, give me a pure heart. Let Your Spirit dwell in my heart and teach me how to pray as You desire. Help me to walk in the Spirit and to live a life of constant fellowship with You. Let my heart reflect Your Word and Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
